2019 Brisbane Truck Show

DECEMBER 12, 2019 | CMV Group

Last week a record 36,921 people gathered in Brisbane to attend the bi-annual 2019 Brisbane Truck Show and members of the South Central Truck & Bus team were extremely excited to have the opportunity to attend this fantastic event.

The Brisbane Truck Show is the largest heavy vehicle truck event in the Southern Hemisphere, showcasing more than 300 exhibitors over four days, across three levels of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was fantastic to see the city brought to life with several activities and activations not only at the event but across the city. The event highlighted several theme initiatives; innovation, safety, sustainability and community which extended right through to road safety, technology, design, engineering and advanced manufacturing.

The Volvo Group took the opportunity to unveil and launch their latest showpieces with revolutionary technology and exclusive limited-edition designs to the public to experience for the very first time. The team from South Central Truck and Bus were extremely impressed and excited to see what is to come from Mack, Volvo and UD in the very near future.

Dean Kumnick, Mack sales manager said “It was a great chance for us to see what’s in store for Mack Australia, with the latest concept of the Super-Liner and the Mack Anthem at the stands of the Brisbane Truck Show. The walk-through concept inside the Mack Anthem was certainly a highlight to the event.” The concept phase of the Mack Super-Liner with a shorter bumper-to-the-back-of-the-cab will provide the Australian market with a conventional prime mover that fits into the 34 pallet/26m B-Double segment. “It is an exciting year for Mack, celebrating 100 years of operation in Australia and we were honoured to attend their 100 Years of Mack dinner which highlighted what a great community Mack continues to stand for.” Said Dean.

Prior to the Brisbane Truck Show, Volvo announced the launch of the all-new FH XXL cab, which has been designed to provide world-class driver comfort. “It was fantastic to see Volvo making a big statement with the brand-new FH XXL cab,” said Jason Templer, Volvo sales manager. “It was a great opportunity for the public to see the XXL for the first time and be able to experience one of the biggest beds in business. Boasting 13cm of extra length and being 25cm winder than the regular FH, the XXL gives drivers plenty of extra headroom and space to stretch out.”

Allowing for greater load efficiency while delivering the same great features and ultimate dependability as the 11-litre, the new 8-litre UD Quon features a GH8 engine which is 300 kilograms lighter than the original 11-litre models. The 8L variant will be available later in the year in two models, the CD 25 360 and the CW 25 360, with the former being the showcase piece at the Brisbane Truck Show. Jackson Weston, UD representative says “the light-weight, compact and powerful GH8 engine is undoubtedly going to excel in harsh Australian conditions. It was also fantastic to see the new 8L and Croner, and we look forward to showing our customers the latest range coming to our dealership soon.” The Croner will include two models, the PK 18 280 and PD 25 280, allowing for a number of vehicle applications.

With so many great new truck models with futuristic technology, innovative designs showcasing the latest gear, we look forward to welcoming Volvo Groups’ new and exciting range to South Central Truck & Bus.
