Recruitment Process

What to expect from the recruitment process

Have you found a job opportunity with South Central Truck & Bus that you want to apply for?

Applying for a job can be daunting, but we're here to help make sure you're prepared and know what to expect from our recruitment process.

Our Recruitment Process

Online application

Your first step to joining the South Central Truck & Bus team is your online application. Your application should include a cover letter and a resume.

Cover letter

Your cover letter gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself, give our team a sense of who you are and why you would be the best fit for the role.

This is also an opportunity to provide more information on your key skills and experience relevant to the position you have applied for.

Resume

Your resume is your opportunity to showcase your skills, experience and achievements. It should include the following information:

  • Contact details – including your full name, email address and contact number
  • Career summary – a few sentences summarizing your work history and what you are hoping to achieve in your career
  • Skills & duties – a summary of your skills and duties from your current or previous employment relevant to the role you have applied for
  • Employment history – details on your previous work history including the company, your job title and the dates you worked there
  • Education – details on your education, training and/or study achievements including the dates completed
  • References – Details of two work references

Phone interview

The next step in our recruitment process is a phone interview. This interview gives us an opportunity to learn a bit more about you, and gives you an opportunity to learn more about us and the role you applied for.

Some applicants may also be asked to complete an online personality profile.

In-person interview

After your phone interview, you may be asked to attend an interview in person. These interviews will typically be with a member of our Human Resources team and the manager responsible for the role you applied for.

During these interviews you will be asked questions about yourself and your experience to help our team determine if you are the right fit for the role.

Pre-employment medical

Once you have attended an in-person interview, you may be invited to attend a pre-employment medical examination.

Our team will discuss this process with you prior to the examination.

Note: There is no cost associated with the pre-employment medical examination.

Final steps

After reviewing your application and holding interviews, our team will then determine if you are the right fit for the role.

New employees will be provided with a welcome pack and invited for an introduction to the team.

If you're unsuccessful this time, we still encourage you to apply for future roles with South Central Truck & Bus.
